Living costs
Question for people who live in rented (or owned accomodation if you are the house holder):
How much do you pay a month on bills on average?
This excludes rent and council tax. I'm not really interested in a phone line for quite sometime as well.

Thanks for any input, x

3 bedrooms, I pay by Direct Debit, so fixed amounts:

Gas and electric; 55
Tv license £23 (They take extra the first few months)
water: £50, but thats just cos i had to pay it in a short time.
£14 phone
£24.99 broadband
£15 Sky

I go out a few times for meals a week, averaging from £1-£10 per time. I havent had time to go out drinking a lot either, but that's about £30 each time I go. Food costs me...well I do a MASSIVE shop once a term, that includes lots of meat, and things to freeze/stock the cupboards, which comes to around £60, and then try to get just fresh fruit, veg, bread and milk for under £10 a week.

A lot of money goes into my car, it's now about £10 per week though, so I guess I am getting better. Its cheaper for me to drive than to catch a bus! Insane!

Alsooooooooooo,
When you first move somewhere, you may be required to give deposits for certain things. BT wanted a £50 deposit from me, which I still haven't seen back yet (They did inform me it would take awhile to get back) and it did cost me a ton to move here at first. But now I am earning, its a little bit better

oh yes, thats a good point.
if you're planning on renting, you'll need to pay a months rent up front, plus one month as a deposit.
